The final county cup competition of the year saw our boys travel to Easton college in Norfolk, competing in Group 2C. Day 1 started against Oxfordshire, with some very close matches. Rares lost in a third set tiebreaker, but the performance of this round came from Theo Whibley winning 4-0 4-0 at number 1. A tough start with a 5-1 loss, but the boys bounced back instantly against Norfolk, fantastic singles wins from Theo, Daniel and Rares put us in a strong position going into the doubles, while Max left everything on the court in a three-set battle. Rares and Theo won their doubles to secure the win 4-2.
Sunday saw an early start to try and get the matches completed before the storm hit. The Bucks boys got the message playing against Bedfordshire, quickly winning all four singles. We then played the singles against Suffolk, where all four boys went into the third set tie break shootouts. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get over the line in any of them, but the team were desperate to finish on a high in the doubles. They played with great attitudes and competitive spirits, leading to a 5-1 win against Bedfordshire and a 1-5 defeat to Suffolk.... but what has become a Bucks tradition being the last match of the weekend on the court, Rares and Theo got the win against Suffolk first pair doubles.
The team finished the weekend on a high, with a lot of learning for all players and parents involved that will be taken into future competitions in their own matches and for the county.
Team: Daniel Caswell, Rares Dumitru, Max Whibley, Theo Whibley
