In August a number of Bucks players competed in the ITF British Masters Grass Court Closed Championships at Wimbledon and the British Open Masters at Eastbourne. At Eastbourne, Chris Hearn won the Over 60s men’s singles and doubles (partnering Alec Allen), after winning the Wimbledon Over 60s men’s doubles with fellow Bucks player Chris Clarke. They only dropped nine games across six sets, winning the final 6-1 6-3. Unfortunately, Chris C retired hurt in the third set of his singles semi-final against the second seed.

Wimbledon would see more Bucks success, with Helen Adams (partnering Samantha Spry) winning the Over 40s women’s doubles. The second seeds won their semi-final comfortably, before coming out on top in the final 6-3 5-7 10-4.
Aidan Graveson finished runner up in the Over 45s men’s singles, missing out in a three setter 6-2 0-6 3-6. Tom Dean (partnering Jonathan Thomson) also finished as runner up in the Over 35s men’s doubles. In the quarter finals they knocked out the top seeds in a match tiebreak, but lost a tight final 2-6 6-4 4-10.
