The Bucks Junior County Closed took place from the 20th to 26th August, with events for all age groups from 8&under to 18&under, plus our open adult competitions. We were very fortunate to have good weather all week until our finals day on the Saturday! This year we were running events at Chesham Bois and Great Missenden, we are very grateful to them for hosting and would like to thank all their volunteers who helped with catering.
The week started on the Sunday with a real mix of ages, kicking off with our Under 9 singles competition and Open mixed doubles. Half the other age groups started on the Monday, as well as our Open adult competitions in the evenings and we were able to hold our first set of finals on the Wednesday at Chesham Bois. For the first time, we held an U9 doubles competition, which was a great opportunity for some of our younger players to show off the skills they have been learning in county training. It was a great success and we look forward to running it again next year.
The rest of the week was held at Great Missenden and we were able to run all our events successfully, along with several completed consolation draws. Finals day was an excellent standard on the Saturday and we would like to thank all the players who entered across the week. This year we had 184 entries, which is an improvement on last year and we also need to thank all the parents for giving up their time. Finally, thanks to our referees Janet Jamieson, Ann Dewick and Jo Head for all their hard work at and before the event, as well as all the other volunteers and court supervisors.
