10&U Boys County Cup 2026

Team: Ronnie Gogol, Jaxon Karwacinski, Anvith Lokesh, Aahil Patel, Oscar Skepper, Andrew Vallath

Captains: Lee Nixon and Fin Barrett

Group D: Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Sussex, Berkshire

Venue: Great Missenden LTC

The team arrived at the home venue in good spirits and ready to play. After a warm-up and a team chat, the boys were on first against Oxfordshire. Anvith and Aahil got us off to a great start, winning their singles matches, before our 1&2 came on court to try and give us a lead before the doubles. In two high quality matches, we narrowly missed out in two match tiebreaks. Ronnie lost from a set up, while Oscar (who is a year young) had a warrior performance, going a set down, but coming back to take the third and narrowly missing out 10-8.

We needed two doubles wins to secure the rubber. Andrew and Anvith had been solid at the Lionel Cox the weekend before and they did their part, winning in straight sets. Unfortunately, Ronnie and Aahil went down 1-4 3-4, meaning a tiebreak shootout to decide the match. Up stepped Anvith and Ronnie, with a fantastic performance to seal the win.

Sussex followed on day one, with a similar match playing out. In the singles we took wins at 1 and 3, with Ronnie and Anvith winning in straights sets, while Oscar lost out in another match tiebreak. An injury forced a change in the doubles pairs, with Aahil dropping out. Andrew and Anvith took charge early on and won two solid sets, while Ronnie and Jaxon were forced to battle, displaying amazing resilience to come through 4-3 3-4 10-4.

Day 2 had all to play for against a very strong Berkshire team, who had also won both rubbers and were looking to qualify for national finals, in this winner takes all battle. The singles round was tough, Aahil lost at 4, but Anvith levelled the match with a match tiebreak win. Oscar and Ronnie would also battle to match tiebreaks, unfortunately both missed out and we were 3-1 down going into the doubles.

We were confident in our doubles ability and fielded a strong lineup, but two more match tiebreaks would not go our way. A frustrating end to a really promising weekend for the team. Highlights were Oscar’s three epic singles matches, with so many ups and downs, as well as the way Andrew and Anvith played doubles, with great teamwork and trust in each other. Thanks to everyone who came and supported the team.
