At Bucks County Tennis players of all ages and abilities can discover a clear pathway to play, learn, and compete across Buckinghamshire. From junior tennis programmes in local schools, to coaching and development at community clubs, and through to performance players representing Bucks in county and national leagues, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved. Explore the full range of what is on offer below.

    County Championships

    Our annual Junior & Senior county championships, with events for all age groups from under 8s to over 65s.

    Club competitions

    There are a range of leagues across Buckinghamshire that clubs can enter, giving players the chance to compete against other clubs from across the county.

  • National & Youth Leagues

    The Bucks Youth League is a singles and doubles competition for all junior age groups. The Buckinghamshire National League is for Open Adult teams.

    Schools Team Tennis

    The LTA Youth Schools Bucks Team Tennis competitions are open to all secondary schools and are free to enter.

    Bucks Shield

    The county runs ladies, mens and mixed Bucks Shield leagues in the summer, and vets and singles Bucks Shield leagues in the winter.

    Play Your Way to Wimbledon provides players of all ages and abilities with the exciting opportunity to play on the iconic grass courts at Wimbledon.

CLUB COMPETITIONS

  • The Aylesbury District Tennis League has been running since 1963.  The story of the ADTL is one of remarkable success. Initially started to provide midweek mixed doubles matches in the summer months for teams local to Aylesbury, it catered for 24 teams and about 100 players in its first season. 60 years later it provides competition for around 200 teams altogether playing both on summer and winter evenings (under floodlights) and winter weekends, with players coming from four different counties.

  • Tennis MK runs a number of competitive leagues including 6 open divisions, 4 ladies divisions and 3 mixed divisions in the summer and 6 medley divisions in the winter.  Currently there are 20 clubs playing in the league with 100 teams playing in the summer competitions.

    Tennis MK also organises tournaments and competitions throughout the summer & winter. The season culminates in a Finals Day and Presentation Evening during September.

  • Farnham Common Winter League is for clubs in and around South Bucks and is a two-pair mixed league where the first match rubber is for mixed pairings and the second rubber is for the ladies' and men's pairings.  The league has been going for over fifteen years and currently runs six divisions.

NATIONAL & YOUTH LEAGUES

The Buckinghamshire Youth League (formerly Team Tennis) is a singles and doubles based competition for all age groups from 8&Under to 18&Under, open to all registered venues in Bucks. The Buckinghamshire National League is for Open Adult teams.

The Youth & National Leagues Summer competitions run from April to July in a 15 week season, providing fun and exciting tennis for all.​

You can find all the Bucks specific information, including fixture dates, event formats and entry details here at the Buckinghamshire National League webpage. There is also a short "How to Enter" video to help you through the process. Entries are made online, but payments are made by bank transfer to the Buckinghamshire County LTA bank account. ​

SCHOOLS TEAM TENNIS

The LTA run a programme of 3, nationally organised competitionsproviding secondary-age pupils with the chance to play competitive tennis relevant to their ability level.  All competitions begin locally and culminate in a final.  Entry to all competitions is free.  ​

The three competitions are:

  1. Year 7 & 8 and Year 9 & 10

  2. National Championships (18U K/O Competition)

  3. Year 11-13 competition

The Play Your Way To Wimbledon tournament, powered by Vodafone, gives adult and junior players an opportunity to follow in their heroes footsteps and compete for the title at Wimbledon.

Britain’s largest mass participation tennis competition, Play Your Way to Wimbledon sees players across a range of abilities – including junior, adult and disability categories – pick up a racket to compete in and enjoy fun matches. 

Players start by competing locally at an event taking place at a local club, park or school, with the winners progressing through to the County and/or Area Finals, and then onto the National Finals at Wimbledon. 

Play Your Way to Wimbledon National Finals take place at Wimbledon from 2 - 8 August 2026.
