about
Bucks County Tennis is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation led by a dedicated team of passionate volunteers. As the official representative body of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) in Buckinghamshire, we work to grow and support tennis at every level across the county.
Our mission is to help deliver the LTA’s vision of “Tennis Opened Up” — making the sport welcoming, enjoyable, and inspiring for everyone.
We believe tennis is a sport for life — open to everyone, whatever your age, ability, or background. It’s more than just a game: tennis builds confidence, fitness, friendships, and a lifelong love of being active.
WHAT WE DO
From grassroots participation to county-level performance, we’re proud to support all forms of tennis across Buckinghamshire. Our work includes:
Junior Development: County training programmes, competitions, and support for top-ranked junior players.
County Teams: Organising and supporting senior, veteran, and junior county squads representing Bucks.
Inclusive Tennis: Expanding opportunities through our Open Court Programme, supporting disability tennis across local clubs and venues.
Funding & Support: Providing player grants, club development funding, and facility improvement loans to strengthen tennis in Bucks.
Coach Education: Supporting coach development and education to raise coaching standards county-wide.
Through partnerships with clubs, schools, coaches, and volunteers, Bucks County Tennis is committed to making tennis in Buckinghamshire accessible and thriving - for everyone, for life.
our vision
Bucks County Tennis are committed to opening tennis up: “Tennis is for everyone. All ages, all backgrounds, all levels of fitness, all abilities. Anyone can pick up a racket, anyone can be part of the tennis family.”

Aubrey Jones was a long-serving and dedicated member of the Bucks County Tennis management committee, most notably overseeing the men’s county team and helping to establish the Bucks Indoor Tennis Centre. A lifelong tennis enthusiast, he progressed from schoolyard games to club play and eventually to roles as spectator, selector, and Match Secretary, organising nearly 200 matches between 1975 and 1998 and helping the county reach Group 1 for the first time in 1983. Even after stepping down, he remained an avid supporter, tracking results and compiling his own league tables. His passion for the sport extended to Wimbledon, which he attended for 70 consecutive years, collecting and annotating programmes, tickets, books, and detailed county scorecards, along with taking countless photos of Bucks players - items now valued as part of his lasting legacy. Aubrey lived a simple but remarkable life, and his meticulous records, photos, and this digital archive ensure his contributions to Bucks tennis will be long remembered.
